How to Update Notification Settings in Adobe Acrobat Sign

Body

You can customize which Acrobat Sign agreement activities generate email notifications or appear as events in Acrobat Sign.

1. Log in to Adobe Acrobat Sign

Sign in to your Adobe Acrobat Sign account.

2. Open Your Profile

  1. In the upper-right corner of the screen, select your name or profile menu.
  2. Select Profile Settings.

3. Open Notification Settings

  1. From the menu on the left, locate Personal Preferences.
  2. Select My Notifications.
Note: If you have access to agreements that have been shared with you, you may also see Shared Notifications. These settings control notifications for agreements shared with your account.

4. Select the Notifications You Want

The My Notifications page allows you to choose which agreement activities you want to be notified about.

Notifications are generally divided into two types:

  • Events are actions that occur on an agreement, such as an agreement being sent, viewed, or signed.
  • Alerts notify you when an expected action has not occurred within a specified amount of time.

For each event or alert, you can select how you want to be notified:

  • Email: Sends an email notification when the event or alert occurs.
  • Event: Records the event in Acrobat Sign so it can be viewed in the Events and Alerts area and included in reports.
  • Both: Select both options if you want an email and an Acrobat Sign event.

You can select neither, one, or both notification methods depending on your preferences.

The following are some of the most commonly used agreement events.

Agreement sent

This event occurs when an agreement is sent to a participant for action, such as signing or approving the document.
Example: You send a contract to an employee for signature. Acrobat Sign records an Agreement sent event when the agreement is sent to that employee.

Agreement viewed

This event indicates that a recipient has viewed the agreement/signing email.
Example: You send a document to someone for signature. They open the Adobe Acrobat Sign email, triggering the viewing notification.
This can help you determine whether the recipient has received and opened the agreement, even if they have not yet completed it.

Agreement signed or approved

This event occurs when a participant completes the action required of them, such as signing or approving the agreement.
Example: An employee signs a form that you sent to them. The event indicates that the participant has completed their required action.
Depending on the agreement workflow, this can include actions such as signing, approving, accepting, filling, or acknowledging the agreement.

Agreement declined

This event occurs when a participant rejects or declines an agreement instead of completing the requested action.
Example: You send an agreement to an employee for signature, but the employee selects the option to decline the agreement.
A declined/rejected agreement requires follow-up because the participant has not completed the requested action.

Agreement delegated

This event occurs when a participant delegates their action to another person.
Example: You send an agreement to a department director for approval. The director delegates the approval to an assistant or another authorized person.
The
Agreement delegated event identifies that the agreement's action has been transferred to another participant.

Email sent to a signer bounced and was not delivered

This event occurs when Acrobat Sign attempts to send an agreement email to a participant but the email is returned as undeliverable.
Example: You send an agreement to an email address, but the recipient's mail server rejects the message or the email address is invalid. Acrobat Sign records an email-bounce event.
This is an important notification because the signer may not know that an agreement has been sent to them. If an email bounces, verify that the recipient's email address is correct and that the recipient can receive email from Acrobat Sign. Adobe specifically recommends checking the email address when a signer email bounces.

5. Configure Notification Reports

At the bottom of the notification settings, you can configure a summary report of selected events.

Depending on the options available to your account, you can choose to receive a summary:

  • Once a week
  • Every work day
  • Every day

This can be useful if you want to monitor agreement activity without receiving an individual email for every event.

6. Save Your Changes

After making your selections, select Save.

Your notification preferences will apply to your user account.

Important

These settings control your personal notification preferences. Changing them does not change the notification settings for other Acrobat Sign users.

Also, some notification options may not be available if they have been restricted or configured by your Acrobat Sign administrator.
