Student Involvement & Leadership

The Office of Student Involvement and Leadership serves our student population in many different ways. We are at home base for over 175 diverse student organizations. We encourage every student to find at least one student organization to become an active member. Membership in a student organization provides opportunities for leadership development, social interaction, entertainment, and education. So whether its dance, religion, political, recreation, research, cultural, music, adventure, or even special interest, there is an organization for you to join! We encourage you to review our currently registered student organizations to find contact information and meeting information. If you do not see what are you looking for then consider starting a new organization!

Our office also serves the Student Government Association and Greek Life on a day to day basis. Trojan Today, the student organization events calendar, is managed by us and gives students a quick look at what they can get involved in daily. We also work with the Leadership Scholar program, Welcome Week, the Leadership Conference Celebrating African American History month, Honors Convocation, Voter Registration and many of the traditional events that happen on campus.

Here are a few tips to get involved at Troy University!

Look for organizations that interest you

One of the great opportunities at Troy University is the diversity of student organizations. We want you to find a group that appeals to you. If you love math, the Square Root of C Math club is for you. If you love to serve and build, Habitat for Humanity might be your group. Some organizations are very large and some are some are small. Do not let the size of the group deter you, many wonderful activities happen with the smallest organization. Attend many of the Welcome Week events and go to the student organization browses during Trojan Day and IMPACT. Most student organization meetings are open to students and if you see one advertised and you are interested – just go!

Try something new

Have you ever had the opportunity to make friends with a student from another country? Have you ever learned how to swing dance? Have you ever wanted to be on a rugby or a cricket team? These are just a few examples of organizations were you could something new and make great friends. Be sure to look at the list on our website of all our campus organizations.

Find a balance

The organizations that a freshman may join may not be what a senior is active in. Freshmen tend to join Greek organizations, get involved in a religious organization and maybe a service organization. Upperclassmen will get involved with organizations that have to do with their major. As you learn to balance your academic work and other responsibilities be careful to not get over involved in out of the classroom activities.
