Report Locked/Disabled Accounts

How do I know if my account has been disabled?

IT staff will attempt to contact you via telephone or use an alternate method of contact if you have already provided this information. If your account has been disabled you will not be able to access the account even when using a valid username and password. The following services will be inaccessible (this list is not comprehensive):

  • Active Directory - provides access to university-owned computers
  • Canvas
  • Network Shares
  • Office 365 - includes email and other Office 365 services
  • Portal (my.troy.edu)
  • University network access
  • VPN

Why was my account disabled?

There are several different reasons that an account may have been disabled. The following are the most common reasons:

  • Confirmed account compromise (e-mail account is sending malicious messages)
  • Graduation
  • Loss of Device (phone, computer)
  • Password sharing (password was shared with a co-worker or left in plain view)
  • Suspected account compromise (presence of malware, credentials posted to the web)
  • Retirement
  • Termination

How do I enable my account?

If you previously provided a telephone number or an alternate method of contact then IT staff will attempt to contact you to provide assistance with accessing your account. However, in some cases we may not have this information when we disable your account. To learn how report a problem accessing your account please visit the Helpdesk helpdesk.troy.edu

If your account was temporarily disabled for security purposes you may call 1-334-670-HELP (4357) for assistance. Note that you will be required to verify your identity before your account can be re-enabled.

Can I enable my account using TrojanPass?

No. TrojanPass provides users with a method for resetting a password if it has been forgotten and only if a TrojanPass profile has already been created. TrojanPass cannot be used to re-enable an account that has been administratively disabled.
