If you are in the National Guard or are an Active Duty military member, are you considered a veteran?

No. If you are currently on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces or if you are a National Guard or Reserves enlistee in active duty for training purposes only, you are not considered a veteran.  

Additionally, if you are a National Guard or Reserves enlistee on active duty for training purposes only, you are not considered currently serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces for the purposes of federal aid.
